Six stages, no surprises. Here is exactly what happens between finding a Maine Coon you like and bringing them home.

Look through the Maine Coons currently with us. Each cat has their own page with photographs, age, colour, temperament and the fee. Use the filters if you have a gender, colour or availability in mind.

Pick the cat that suits your household. If nothing feels quite right, or the one you liked is reserved, you can apply without choosing and let us suggest a match based on your preferences.
Tell us what you are looking forApply
Complete the adoption application. It covers your household, your experience with pets, and how the cat would fit into a normal week. It takes a few minutes and you receive a reference number as soon as it is submitted.
Start an applicationReview
We read every application properly, in the order they arrive, and check it against the cat you chose. If we think another cat would suit you better, we will say so rather than staying quiet.
Communication
We contact you by email to talk it through, answer your questions and confirm the practical details. This is the point to ask us anything — nothing is agreed before this conversation.
Adoption
Once both sides are happy, we confirm the arrangements and your Maine Coon comes home. Our records for that cat come with them, and you can contact us afterwards with any question that comes up.
Practical Points
How long does it take?
It depends on how many applications are in front of yours and on the cat you have chosen. We aim to respond to every application, including unsuccessful ones. If a cat is reserved, we will tell you where you stand rather than leaving you waiting.
Can I apply for more than one cat?
Yes. Submit an application for the cat you would most like, and tick I am open to another Maine Coon so we know you would consider alternatives.
Can I apply without choosing a cat?
Yes. Leave the cat selection blank and fill in the preferences section instead. We will match you against current and upcoming Maine Coons.
What if the cat I wanted is already adopted?
Use Find a Maine Coon. Send us the photo or the link to the cat you saw, and we will look for the closest match among the cats we have now and the ones coming up.
